One important thing I learned from the book I was reading is that detox is not something you'd get from taking a pill. Understanding how the body does the detox process helps, and it made me realize the dangers of taking pills that might look like it's helping you detoxify when in fact it just 'provokes' your body to eliminate toxins by irritating it. So I've decided to do my detox the old school way - by trying to fast and drinking lots of green smoothie. I'm writing about it here cos that would make me commit to actually doing it. :)
My colleague suggested that I go on a retreat and I instantly thought of The Farm. Hopefully when I go home in April I could squeeze in A Day at The Farm. I would do their cleansing programs in a heartbeat (ie eating lots of greens and raw vegan food) IF it's free and fits my schedule. :D Apparently they're not cheap and I'm not some rich politician who could spend hundreds of thousands PhP on something I could force myself to do anyway. But I love The Farm at San Benito, I've only been there once for an overnight stay with my mom (see my old post here with the senator-sighting bit), but I'd love to go there again and bring my family with me. Everyone needs detox and I think my parents and brother need it so much more than I do.
What I love most of all about The Farm is their food. Seriously one of the best dining experiences I ever had (5-course gourmet meal that's mostly raw). I've never felt so cleansed after eating a meal until I had my dinner and breakfast there (it'd probably make more sense if you've experienced it there yourself :D). Here are some food photos from my Multiply album.
For dinner, entree and main:
For breakfast, lots of fresh fruits and coconut bacon! :)
Well I guess it's time to check out some recipes from RAW! - I've ordered a couple of this for me and my mom but whipping up these fancy dishes isn't that easy. :D But this time I'll try. :)
