snapshots lately: 001

I have an album in FB called 'snapshots lately'. It was initially for pictures I took from different places that I was too lazy to upload in separate albums. Then I thought it would be good to tell a story by uploading just a picture or two from an event or place I've been to. Now I feel like I've already posted too many photos in it so I think I'll make this blog an extension of that album. Plus it's probably a good idea to just share these random (and often shallow) photos with the few people who actually bother to check this blog! :D

So here are some snapshots lately. Food from our Jan 20 dinner date at Portofino and some test shots using my new lens!

Midnight snack! Homemade choco lava cake (again). The 2 candles were meant to be "11". :D
Bascaiola

Chicken wrapped in prosciutto with baked eggplant parmigiana

Always celebrate with a good dessert! If it's Italian, it has to be tiramisu. :)

Before I show pictures taken with my new lens, here's one from 2008, my first shot using my then-brand new D60 with kit lens.
Waiting for the bus, near Eunos MRT station (Singapore).

With the same model, using f/1.8 lens:
Outside the Cathedral of St. Stephen

As you can see I'm still trying to get the hang of it. I'm not too techie with cameras but from what I understand, there's no autofocus with this lens on my D60.

But I bought this because I refuse to replace my camera and I love taking night shots, and this takes really good photos at low light! :)

Better pictures to follow (I hope!).

  1. Nice shots using the 1.8! I love taking low-light shots too! :)

  2. Thanks Lauren! The last photo I just pointed my camera at random to see how fast the shutter speed will be. I wish I bought this lens sooner! Could've saved me a lot of blurred shots. :D
