There were lots of things I thought of writing about, pictures to go with them, the works - basically things that are too long to share in Instagram or Facebook. These include skin (how my skin fared through the years), makeup (I am slowly discovering its wonders!) and growing up (hey what's the big deal with becoming 30 yrs old? I'm still 28 btw! :p).
I guess I'll just keep things light and talk about... growing up! Lol. Yep, let's get that over with!
I'll ask again: what's the big deal with being 30? Why is it some sort of a deadline for certain things? I dunno really, but for some reason I've also recently come up with a 'bucket list' of things I'd want to do before I reach 30... oops.
Well my parents or at least my dad for one, kind of said he'd want at least 1 thing asap and that is for me to have a kid. I'd want that too but we're definitely not in a hurry. Frankly, we feel quite young to be parents, especially where we live. People here may still see us as kids ourselves! I can only imagine how many people will ask us about this when we go back home. And we completely understand why our parents want us to have kids sooner rather than later, because they're getting old too. While I personally don't have a deadline for this, I'd want this too but maybe not asap. :p Is it crazy that I want my kid to have the same birthmonth as me and born in a certain year? :p Haha. I am obviously still hung over on a college machine problem (it was a bonus MP) I did a lot of research for years ago - Chinese horoscope (where you type your birth year and it tells you your personality). Anyway, if it happens, it happens. I don't really want these things to be that planned. :)
The other obvious thing one might want by 30 is his/her own place. Have you seen the movie Failure to Launch, where Matthew McConaughey was still living with his parents? Obviously that's not me. I've been living independently since I was 23, i.e., paying for my own rent and food. Well, not entirely true, there's that year stint in the US when I was a starving student and was being sponsored by my parents. :p But aside from that I've been pretty self-sustained. Some friends have already bought their own place which is good. Raymund and I want that too and were even thinking of buying a property back home. But as a friend advised, if you're not going to live in it or have no definite use for it, then maybe investing in one is not the best idea, which makes sense. Properties here are definitely way more expensive than in the Philippines. Meaning it's normal to pay your mortgage for 30 years. This got me thinking about how our parents did it. I remember moving to our own house at 6 years old. And my parents didn't have to pay a mortgage, they built our house when they had enough money. Fortunately the graph below offers some consolation. Things are just more expensive now, period. There's no reason to feel bad if you don't have $500,000 upfront to buy a house. Most people don't.

And lastly, I wish we can finally have that trip to Europe. We don't have to go to each must-see city. I really just want to go to a couple I've been dreaming of going to for years. A friend said, when you have the time, you don't have the money, and vice versa. Quite true. Also, it's hard to let go of money you've saved up if you're anticipating other expenses that you might have to pay for soon. I guess this post helped. I don't want to overthink this though. I just want it to happen and when I'm there, have fun. :)
Anyway, please don't think that I feel I must do all these things before 30. It would be good to be able to do some or all of them, but it's not really about ticking things off a list. So scratch that thing I said about my before 30 bucket list. This is I guess just my to-do or wishlist, without any particular deadline. ;)
Next time, I'll talk about more pressing stuff - like skin and foundation. :p
Cheers!
