I'll start on a sad note, which is about my grandmother's recent passing. My dad went back home for a week and flew to Palawan to see the rest of his family. My lola was in her mid-80s I think. I'm not very close to her or to my father's side of the family. But I've always admired my lola. She was a school principal and an English teacher. She named my uncles Edgar, Allan and Poe. Obviously she used to read a lot, and one time I even found the Harry Potter book I was reading beside her bed. I remember her being proud of me for getting into UP, as she also had her master's there. I liked that I was able to talk to her when I was younger and that she was patient having a kid like me hanging around her. She was my last living grandparent, and she died of old age. This was the last time I saw her, which was at my parents' silver wedding. I wish I could've known her more, and I felt guilty not feeling enough emptiness when I heard that she's gone. I know though that I do love her and will always be thankful to her for giving me my dad. I was relieved that she was able to receive the last sacrament and am happy knowing she's in a better place where she can no longer feel any suffering.
On to recent events, the past weekend had been pretty packed. It was a long weekend in Queensland because of the Queen's second birthday for the year. We drove down to Coolangatta, just right off the south border of Queensland. In a gist, it was quite a fun trip. :) No stargazing or sunrise though because it was very cloudy at the time, which was pretty disappointing because we woke up at past 5am. But it was still fun hanging out at the beach, reading (or trying to) and trying different yoga poses.
Us goofing around
Our cute and tidy room at La Costa
The sun-less morning
Obviously Raymund insisted to take a picture of me
And he got one when I wasn't looking
It's New South Wales over there
Before we headed back to Brisbane we tried these mini burgers from the Burger Lounge, which our host at La Costa recommended for us to try. The lamb burger was delish with the beetroot relish. :)
Tonight I had another one. We just watched Taken 2 earlier and had a quick late dinner at Grill'd after the movie. I only ate half and took home the other. This time the burger had cheese and hummus, and by far the best lamb burger I've had. Very good for $13.50!
Moving on, other stuff we've been pretty occupied about is our songs for the wedding. But I'm not gonna say much except that we want to include these songs from our spin class. :D Click on the links to watch the piano/string versions (oh, because we're having a string quintet band). :)
Hoppipolla by Sigur Ros
Charlie Brown by Coldplay
Every Teardrop is a Waterfall by Coldplay
These are all racing songs in our RPM class, and my favourite endurance songs so far. As you probably know, I've been quite addicted to RPM especially when I got better at it. I'm not saying I'm very good, but I can now take the whole class without feeling like passing out or asking myself "why am I doing this?". I've recently started going to the high-performance class which is a tad more challenging with 9 songs instead of the normal 7. And I'm already excited to go to class tomorrow morning! This is what makes me wake up at 7:20 on Saturdays! :)
Well, this has already been a long post but I'll just add one more trivial thing. You know how in wedding videos the bride and/or groom give gifts to each other? It's there in almost every wedding video that Raymund and I started joking about it. He said our videographer would probably already have a gift ready for us as props and we don't have to buy our own since it almost seems that this is an integral part of the wedding (video)! :p Anyway due to peer pressure, we've been browsing suitable gifts and here's what I found... to match my rose gold wedding ring. :)
Oh, and it's only 60 grand. Dollars! If only it were pesos and my benefactor would consider... :D
Okay this is really it. Ciao!
